The Mission Systems Engineering Labs (MSEL) Department seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to fill the role of Engineering Labs Manager. In this position, you will spearhead a team of Engineering Technicians supporting Mission Systems Engineering initiatives. As a people leader, you will conduct performance reviews, participate in salary and staffing planning, and optimize technical resources to meet program requirements.

Your responsibilities will also include overseeing the Engineering Development Space (Labs) and managing special projects, ensuring adherence to areas of compliance such as Environmental, Health, and Safety, RTX Quality, and Physical & Cyber Security. Project management duties may encompass small-scale initiatives and larger Engineering Development Space construction projects. You may be asked to provide long-term capital planning and annual budgeting for your designated area.

Regular collaboration with Engineering, Facilities, Security, Digital Technology, and Operations teams is essential. Strong communication skills at the executive level are required. Establishing and nurturing partnerships with these departments will be central to success in this role.

Quarterly travel to various Collins Aerospace sites may be required, with a permanent presence at the main Collins location. Relocation assistance will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of engineering technicians in support of MS Engineering who predominately work in an Engineering Lab environment at Richardson, Texas, Renner Location

  • Responsible for ensuring Environmental, Health & Safety, RTX Quality, and Physical & Cyber Security Compliance of Engineering Development Spaces (Labs)

  • May be responsible for management of specialized Test Facilities such as: EMI/EMC Chamber, Anechoic Chamber, Environmental Test Labs, High Potential Test Labs, etc

  • May develop and manage multi-year capital plans and operating budget

  • Work with Engineering and Value Stream leaders to support program success with Eng Dev Space and Technical Resources

  • May work closely with Security, Facilities, and Engineering leadership for Eng Dev Space build projects, including some degree of project management

  • May provide cost and schedule estimates, assign resources, track schedule, ensure quality compliance, and create and approve Job Hazard Assessments for activity within the Eng Dev Space (labs)

  • Will drive a positive customer experience from the initial marketing of Eng Labs resources and services through the daily execution of customer programs

  • Fosters Continuous Improvement and Innovation within areas of control and beyond

  • Support MS success with additional duties as needed within the role of MS Eng Lab Manager

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Must be willing to travel regularly within the Continental US

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management and Sheet Metal and Machine Fabrication shop experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology

  • Familiar with OSHA/ANSI Industry Compliance

  • Familiar with test equipment and systems test principles

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
