We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Information Assurance Engineer Specialist for a Full-Time position.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Information Assurance Engineer Specialist to join our team and provide expert-level support in delivering security administration to the NPS Enterprise Data Centers. The Specialist will play a critical role in incident reporting, planning, standards compliance, platform configuration management, cyber security vulnerability tracking, and ensuring secure user access and management processes. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in creating and submitting Assessment & Authorization (A&A) packages and all related documents, along with a solid understanding of hybrid data center environments. Collaboration with NPS security personnel will be essential to ensure compliance with government security standards and provide technical and non-technical security-based expertise and guidance to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Map and implement defined security controls on NPS-owned devices in alignment with government-identified General Support Systems (GSS) and Subsystems.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain security-related documents, including System Security Plans (SSP), Risk Assessments, Risk Acceptance documentation, Security Impact Analyses, Contingency Plans, Incident Response Plans, Plan of Actions & Milestones (POA&M), Independent Security Assessment (ISA), Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Service Level Agreements (SLA), and Assessment & Authorizations (A&A).

  • Collaborate with auditors and provide artifacts to support current configurations.

  • Assess existing systems, applications, tools, and security processes for security implications and recommend enhancements to strengthen security posture.

  • Conduct continuous monitoring, including maintenance of current Authorizations to Operate (ATO), monitoring compliance, conducting assessments, periodic scans, auditing events, and reviewing audit logs.

  • Provide recommendations to minimize security impacts of new requirements and technologies in alignment with policies, federal laws, and mandates.

  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with System Owners, NPS IT Security personnel, data center personnel, change control board personnel, and data center end users, providing technical and non-technical security-based expertise, guidance, and documentation.

  • Develop, communicate, and enforce security policies, procedures, and safeguards for all systems and staff based on Data Center and other government standards.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in information security, specializing in security administration and compliance.

  • Proven track record in creating and submitting Assessment & Authorization (A&A) packages and related documents.

  • Comprehensive understanding of hybrid data center environments, including evaluation and guidance on security control implementation.

  • Proficiency in security standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+) are advantageous.
