Eagle Harbor, LLC, a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC, and a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking a DNA Database Sample Specialist.

Responsibilities:

  • The DNA Database Sample Specialist recommends solutions to problems encountered when performing sample management procedures and assists in the training of new methods and new personnel when applicable. They will perform specific quality assurance and quality control duties involving sample management responsibilities, ensuring compliance with FBI, national, and international quality assurance and quality control guidelines and policies and procedures are understood and followed.

  • Receive, accession, and prepare DNA database samples and/or boxes of forensic evidence or related materials

  • Assist with the receipt, accessioning and preparation of DNA database samples and/or boxes of forensic evidence or related materials

  • Develop recommendations for changes necessary to correct problems or deficiencies.

  • Advise and train staff in case of policy changes.

  • Maintain liaison with unit management, quality assurance personnel, external vendors, and contractors.

  • Perform duties in support of the management.

  • Provide input into the development of new guidelines and quality assurance standards.

  • Inputting information into quality system databases.

  • Prepare detailed documentation.

· Requirements:

  • US Citizen

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check

  • Active (fully adjudicated) Top Secret Clearance

  • Bachelor of Science degree in science disciplines, criminal justice, or related field from accredited university/college. Prefer six (6) months of evidence inventory, control and management experience or other forensic laboratory experience.

  • Computer data entry, course work in forensics, attention to detail, familiarization with QA / QC, experience with a LIMS.

  • Must successfully complete and pass the FBI Laboratory/Unit specific training requirements and must successfully complete an FBI competency test within the time period as set forth by the FBI Laboratory/Unit specific program.

  • At a minimum, the competency test will include:

o Examination of sufficient unknown samples to cover the anticipated spectrum of job duties and evaluation of his/her ability to perform suitable testing methods.

o A written or oral examination to assess his/her knowledge of the discipline, category of testing, or task being performed.

  • Must be able to communicate fluently verbally and in writing, in English, at the bachelor’s degree level, be able to understand and execute complex verbal and written instructions in English, be able to express complex issues verbally and in writing in English.

  • Must be competent in operating an IBM-style microcomputer in Windows and/or UNiplexed Information Computing System (UNIX) environments.

  • Must be able to discuss complex technical issues in English, using a telephone.

  • Must be competent with Microsoft Office products in a Windows environment and be competent with computer file management in Windows and/or UNIX environments (creating and deleting files and directories, finding, renaming, copying, and moving files, etc.).
