The Network Engineer position will join the current Oracle Netsuite Global Business Unit Network team in deploying and supporting production datacenter networks to ensure we provide our customers with excellent performance, stability, and security across the network. The position has responsibilities across our global footprint covering a large cloud networking environment. This is a great opportunity for a strong coder with curiosity about cloud networking to develop their experience and contribute to our growing cloud network environment.

Responsibilities

As part of the Network team within Oracle's Netsuite Global Business Unit Operations organization, you will be responsible for the deployment and management of network infrastructure on the global datacenter networks, supporting our networks across our cloud environments.

Our goals are security, uptime and reliability and you will help to deliver on these by maintaining a secure, resilient network, planning, and deploying changes in line with our global standards, identifying and fixing issues fast. You should be interested in growing and expanding expertise in network technologies and coding as we support a wide variety of networking technologies.

You will participate in managing cloud networks, troubleshooting issues, analysing network performance, and collaborating across teams to resolve issues.

You will use your coding skills to support expansion of our cloud network for the continued successful growth of our customers, and to contribute to network automation across the network.

You will contribute to projects including code development for our cloud network, deploying changes across the network, implementing automation across the network. You will work alongside other team members, engaging with security, cloud services, SRE and other teams to ensure successful delivery of network tasks and projects.

You will manage requests through a ticketing system, coordinating with other team members and cross-functional teams to ensure that requests are delivered on time and to standard.

You will become part of an on-call rota responding to network monitoring alerts and escalations to identify root cause of outages and coordinate corrective action. You will work with service improvement teams to identify and implement enhancements to avoid future problems.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute to code development to support network-focused changes in our cloud environment (30%)

• Develop and implement automation through code to assist with handling the network (10%)

• Solve network issues and on-call support (20%)

• Support network lifecycle through projects such as upgrades, migrations and builds across the network (20%)

• Support security of the network, handling multiple layers of defence across the cloud network with both internal and external tools such as Akamai (20%)

• Participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation is expected.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Graduate in computer science/engineering or equivalent field of study preferred

• High level of skill with Python, Terraform or other similar languages – must demonstrate knowledge of a scripting or compiled language

• Understanding of high-level software development

• Interest in supporting large scale, highly available cloud networks

• Experience with, or a strong interest in cloud networking

• Good understanding of network protocols – TCP/IP, SSL, BGP, IPSec
