Job Description Summary

The Systems Engineer is part of a cross-functional team working to create the technical content, performance, and quality deliverables of a product program. On this technical team, the systems engineer works to ensure that product programs achieve all design objectives required to meet customer and business needs, that includes: feature and functionality, quality, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, regulatory, compliance, and cost. This specific role will focus primarily on creating and tracking of Design Input requirements and will work with the Systems Team to create requirements, the Software Team to implement requirements and the Verification and Validation Team to test requirements.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in generating performance and functional system requirements and related trace matrices

  • Active team member in design control process, especially in subsystem decomposition, requirements development, design planning, and design transfer

  • Analyze designs for compliance to international and quality standards

  • Implement design changes that sustain existing products that are in the market

  • Create DHF (Design History File) deliverables per New Product Introduction & Installed Base plans as required by the Quality Management System under guidance for design team.

  • Conduct experiments and diagnostic tests as required to draw conclusions

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, Computer), or similar technical discipline with two (2) years of experience, or an Associate’s degree with four (4) years of technical experience.

  • Awareness of the functionality of complex systems including mechanical (pneumatic and structural), electrical, and software designs and their integrated interactions

  • Competent in problem solving, technical writing, and communication skills

  • Capable of working both in a team-oriented environment and as individual contributor

Desired Characteristics:

  • Two (2) years’ experience in project leadership or systems engineering within a manufacturing, development, or research environment.

  • Demonstrated experience driving CTQ flow-down to subsystems.

  • Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues

  • Demonstrated exposure to HW/SW/Systems design and technical depth in one or more engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, etc)

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate technical tradeoffs and decision making.

  • Demonstrated exposure to risk-based approach design and tool-based alternative decision selections

  • Demonstrated exposure to use of Root Cause tools or other investigational aids

  • Experience using a requirements management database (i.e. DOORs, JAMA, etc.)

  • Experience using a defect management database (i.e. ClearQuest, Compass, etc.)
