The Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army national Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. Description of Job

This position is assigned to Buckley Space Force Base and supports the 140th Civil Engineering division, by performing structural and facilities maintenance-based work at three different location, Buckley Space Force Base, Greeley Air National Guard Station, and Fort Carson airburst range. The position will be detailed on a seasonal basis to Greeley Air National Guard Station after an eight-to-twelve-month training period, to be served at Buckley Space Force Base. The work schedule of this position is Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional emergency call-back and on-call support will be required for this position. This position performs, but is not limited to, the following duties:

  • performing routine preventative maintenance and repair on all types of roofs, personnel doors, overhead garage doors, vehicle and pedestrian gates, chain link fences, facility drainage/gutter systems, and window systems;

  • carpentry work to include installation and removal of walls and flooring systems, drywall installation and repair, mudding, taping, sanding, caulking, and painting ceiling tile replacement;

  • maintaining and repairing low voltage electrical systems on doors, overhead garage doors, and vehicle/pedestrian gates;

  • participating in coordination and scheduling efforts with customers and co-workers to bring contractors on base for service contracts;

  • performing minor HVAC preventative maintenance such as changing filters and belts, lubrication of pumps and motors;

  • engaging in minor plumbing repair and maintenance such as changing batteries in flushing units, unclogging drains and toilets, faucet fixture replacement, and repairing leaks on faucets and toilets;

  • performing minor electrical maintenance such as changing light fixtures, bulbs, and ballast elements;

  • performing grounds maintenance to include snow removal, mowing, tumbleweed removal, pulling and spraying weeds, fertilizing, trimming and maintaining trees and shrubbery, lawn irrigation system repair and weeds, fertilizing, trimming and maintaining trees and shrubbery, lawn irrigation system repair and maintenance, sign installation and replacement, pavement maintenance of both asphalt and concrete general site clean-up;

  • engaging in custodial maintenance to include cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and drinking fountains, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping of floors, trash removal, stripping and waxing of floors, and cleaning windows;

  • performing weekly staging of site garbage dumpsters for easy off base access to contractor for servicing;

  • escorting of contractors and co-workers entering base and restricted area;

  • assisting other shops/trades as needed or required; and

  • performing a variety of administrative functions such as daily timecard completion and review, Kronos timecard daily inputs and leave requests, assisting with coordination and scheduling of preventative maintenance and direct scheduled work orders.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four years of experience in the full compliment of structural trades duties.

  • Must be willing and able to work on-call and overtime as needed.

  • Must have and maintain a current and valid Colorado Driver's License.

  • Must be able to pass a background investigation.

  • Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.

  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance within six months of employment.
