Job Description Summary

Responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction and management of the day to day operations of the HIM department including Medical Records, Release of Information, and Transcription. Serves as a resource person for the Medical Staff and for hospital personnel in matters relating to Accreditation, for state and federal laws, for confidentiality issues, and for reimbursement guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in Medical Information Management or Business Related Field Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Direct support experience for a Digital Medical Record system to include Workflow Development and Design Minimum five years’ experience with supporting or managing a Health Information Management department Experience within or directly with a Health Information (Medical Records) hospital department Certification as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Administrator (RHIA)

LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Strong understanding of Medical Terminology

SKILLS:

Ability to operate a personal computer using a Windows Operating System Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Direct support experience for a Digital Medical Record system to include Workflow Development and Design ICD-10-CM and CPT coding knowledge. Experience working with and supporting Coding and DRG grouper software
