POSITION: Gardener REPORTS TO: Crew Foreman PAY SCALE: Starts at $17.82/hr.

This is a general labor position that works directly under an assigned Crew Foreman. Although we try to cater to individual interests (landscape, irrigation, maintenance, horticultural, etc.) all Gardeners are required to do "whatever the company needs and do it energetically and positively." A desire to be helpful and work outdoors is key.

We seek to employ Gardeners that are striving to become Foremen by increasing their knowledge, professionalism, productivity, and leadership abilities. Your most important responsibilities are working safely, doing quality work, being productive and following company policy. Excellent attendance is key, as well. We will teach you many technical skills over time, but only you can prove that you are a useful worker for the company.

Required Abilities: Meet the Physical Demands & function well in the General Working Conditions described on the following page. Follow direction well and able to work effectively without direct supervision for varying periods of time. Able to perform correct preventative maintenance on power equipment and vehicles. Able to do basic repairs on hand tools & equipment. Communicates proactively, honestly & effectively. Is customer oriented, and highly aware of good public relations?

Required Skills: Operate commercial power equipment such as large mini skid loaders, skid loaders, demo saws, plate compactors, blowers, etc. safely and effectively Perform manual tasks well & with quickness (for example: raking, weed pulling, trash pick-up, shoveling, sweeping, etc.) Possesses basic skills related to landscape maintenance such as: o Mowing and core aerating in straight lines o Mowing and trimming without damage to trees or other objects. o Basic pruning and shearing (pruning department) o Basic clean-up of leaves, needles & debris o Installing rock or mulch with wheelbarrow & shovel o Flower and shrub planting Physically fit, able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

Required Knowledge: General knowledge of landscape maintenance tasks such as: raking, weeding, edging, mulching, and mowing Mechanical knowledge or experience helpful Some knowledge of plant material and planting techniques preferred Driver's license preferred

Key Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain a positive, cooperative & helpful attitude on the job. Arrive for work daily, on time and in complete uniform. Maintain punctuality with starting/quitting times & break/lunch periods. Participate in pre-work discussions on & off job sites with your supervisor to understand jobsite & your role before doing tasks. Complete assigned tasks quickly, efficiently and with minimal error. Maintain neat, organized housekeeping standards on the job (work area/truck/trailer). Keep items in proper storage locations. Work safely all the time. Know and strictly observe all safety rules. Attend & participate in regular safety meetings. Other related duties may be assigned.
