ASRC Federal Holding Company Project Engineer in Albuquerque, New Mexico

ASRC Federal Systems Solutions (AFSS) brings a 17-year history of delivering high-performance space systems engineering, space launch mission assurance, integration and satellite operations services to civil and defense agencies. AFSS provides these services throughout all phases of the program life cycle and across the entire space systems architecture, including space, space launch, mission assurance, and ground assets.

AFSS is seeking a full-time Project Engineer to support the Rocket Systems Launch Program (RSLP) Mission Assurance (RSLP MA) contract in Albuquerque, NM. Responsibilities include direct interface with the RSLP Space Force customer to define program requirements and manage engineering support for the Minuteman and Peacekeeper Aging Surveillance and Sustainment programs. Other responsibilities include support to launch program activities and providing project engineering support for Minuteman and Peacekeeper transportation and handling (T&H) equipment, and depot support equipment (DSE).

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct interface with Space Force customers, ensuring all contractual requirements are met.

  • Support RSLP Minuteman and Peacekeeper sustainment and logistics efforts leading multi-disciplinary engineering team from program inception, through rocket motor refurbishments and booster assembly, to successful launch of the vehicle.

  • Provide direct interface to RSLP customer regarding aging surveillance test program activities for the RSLP owned Minuteman and Peacekeeper motors and components.

  • Prepare annual updates to Minuteman and Peacekeeper aging surveillance program management plans and assist team with managing and defining processes.

  • Prepare/review required briefings presented to or by Space Force customer and leadership.

  • Manage tracking and maintenance support of RSLP owned T&H equipment, providing project engineering support for T&H related issues.

  • Provide engineering support for DSE repairs and test set replacement programs.

  • Periodic travel to government and contractor facilities to interact with key RSLP sustainment and launch program stakeholders as required.

Requirements:

  • Must have strong communication and presentation skills and demonstrated ability to work with contractor and government counterparts.

  • Must be capable of producing schedules to track dynamically changing resources and requirements.

  • Demonstrated high initiative, proactive, self-starter required.

  • Project management experience to include writing program plans, requirements documents, processes, and program work statements.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) and Microsoft Project to perform technical writing, editing, document formatting, and scheduling.

  • Working knowledge of elementary statistical techniques to evaluate effects of aging on motor performance.

Desired:

  • Experience with the refurbishment, testing and aging surveillance of solid rocket motors, components, and systems.

  • Experience with solid rocket motor transportation and handling operations.

  • Experience with solid rocket motor test equipment.

  • Experience in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis.

  • 5 years or more experience in rocket motor industry.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors of Science degree, preferably in an engineering science

  • Five years direct project engineering experience leading a technical team

  • Secret Clearance Required.
